On June 14, 1947 there was a strange sighting in Roswell, New Mexico. Was it a plane? Flying saucer? Uh, a mirage? What really happened?

It was allegedly an extraterrestrial aircraft, with, of course, alien occupants. To this day it’s still the subject of many conspiracy theories, and the most publicized UFO sighting — we’d like to think some things are better left unknown.

We’re honoring this anniversary with an iconic cover of Marilyn Monroe that holds a strange headline, “THERE IS A CASE FOR INTERPLANETARY SAUCERS.” Have a look for yourself in the issue here.
